About this grant
The Dutch Foundation for Literature (Letterenfonds) funds literary translators' professional development rather than a single book. The grant can pay for coaching or mentoring, study trips and translator residencies, research travel, or a dossier to pitch a book to publishers, and all plans must be finished within a year. Translators working into Dutch, Frisian, Papiamento or Caribbean English can get up to €3,500; those working from Dutch, Frisian or Papiamento get a fixed €1,000. Applications are handled in order of arrival until the year's budget runs out, so apply early in the year.
